England is so damn Expensive!!!

A forgiener in England. I know I'm not the only one, but how do you survive in such a economic state?
I've been looking into various ways of making money online. Yougov and Valued opinions are great paid survey sites, valued opinions giving you more money (1-2 pounds per survey) but I've found i've not qualified for as many surveys on there.

Mystery shopping will pay you around 4-7 pounds per visit plus reimburse your meal/drink. Great if you want a free meal, but if its not a place close, the tube fare makes this not the most profitable scheme.

I've stayed away from most other scams such as 'sign up and we will paypal you money'. If any of these work, please tell!
